I got this because I wanted to have an easy to carry, durable and decent looking insulated lunch ‘bag’ to carry my lunch in. A small plastic cooler would be a 'better' insulator but also very rigid and harder to carry/move with a fixed size. A fabric insulated bag lets you fill it up to capacity or not and if not it is 'smaller'.

I like that it has a compartment at the top for silverware. I got this for my husband who prefers not to eat with plastic utensils. It has shoulder straps which frees up your hands. Large center compartments in addition to side and front compartments. This had plenty of room for one person. I would order a larger size for a family picnic.
